Vinyl flooring for Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica
Objectives
The project aimed to create a large-format graphic intervention that could be fully integrated into the curatorial narrative of the exhibition “L’assalt de la il·lusió” (The Assault of Illusion), curated by Enric Puig Punyet at the Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica.
The exhibition brings together the work of artists such as A.A. Murakami (Azusa Murakami and Alexander Groves), Alain Josseau, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Anish Kapoor, Antonio Gagliano and Verónica Lahitte, Berndnaut Smilde, Chico Amaral, Fabian Knecht, Ilê Sartuzi, Juan Antonio Cerezuela, Julia Santa Olalla, Klaus Frahm, Leandro Erlich, Lucrecia Dalt, MANS O and Joan Sandoval, Manuel Calderón, Miquel Màrtir, Núria Güell, Víctor Enrich, and Xesca Salvà.
The piece had to transcend its decorative function to become an active element within the exhibition space, reinforcing the concepts of perception, image, and illusion explored by the artists.
Furthermore, the challenge was to create a visually striking solution while maintaining high standards of sustainability and print quality.
The Project
CeGe produced and installed a large-scale vinyl floor (almost 100 m²), conceived as a key element within the exhibition space.
This intervention transforms the horizontal plane into a central feature, creating an immersive experience from the visitor’s first contact with the exhibition.
The project presented a significant technical challenge, both due to its scale and the need to guarantee visual continuity, durability, and precision during installation.
Production was carried out using swissQprint’s 4th generation printing technology, one of the most sustainable solutions on the market, allowing for a combination of visual impact, production efficiency, and environmental commitment.
The result is a graphic floor that not only complements the exhibition narrative but also redefines the space and enhances the public’s interaction with the artwork.
